Our 2019 conference will cater for all levels of experience so don’t miss out on this opportunity to update your knowledge and the chance to network with other rate administrators who have experienced or are experiencing similar challenges.
Registrations are open to members, non-members and sponsors/VIPs, and fees are GST inclusive.
(Note: Gold Sponsors are allow 3 people free, Silver Sponsors 2 people free and Bronze 1 person free - outside of that will incur the Non-Members price)

Cancellation/Refund Policy: A full refund will be issued for cancellation no less than 4 weeks prior to an event. Registrations are fully transferable. Where it is transferred to a non-member, the difference in registration fee is payable.

Kelledyjones Lawyers will open the conference with a workshop and legal update hosted by Michael Kelledy and Natasha Jones.
This workshop will cover topics such as;
- Overview of the ‘Ratepayer protections’ Bill in response to the lack of support for rate capping
- A general update on matters (if any) that become evident to us between now and late January 2019
- Interactive presentation of the rewritten model rebate policy.
- Rating of commonwealth land/entities
Relax after the first day and come join us for a bit of bowling & mini golf at the Barossa Bowland Tanunda. You can enjoy some finger food washed down with a few Barossa wines. This is a casual and relaxed function giving members the opportunity to chat and network with other Rate Administrators from all corners of South Australia. After the bowling & minigolf we will head back to the Novotel for a meal and some entertainment from noted comedian Dave O’Neill.

For an interesting start to the day we will hear crucial presentations such as:
Office of the Valuer-General
The Office of the Valuer-General will provide us with a synopsis of what we can expect by way of valuations for the coming 2019-20 financial year. What has happened in the property market and how it may affect your council and ratepayers? What is the current level of objections and how many are still being investigated. The VG will also touch on objections and the revaluation program which commences in 2019/2020.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION - will provide an update on all things topical, particularly those affecting rate administrators. The LGA will also update us on several current projects they have on the go at the moment including the current state wide campaign regarding rate capping.
Tracy Riddle of Kelledyjones Lawyers - will provide items of interest involving Section 270 as it relates to rates:
- case study on a 270 review (street numbering) and rating approach of that land and another case study on 270 reviews regarding discretionary rebates.
Q & A Session - Submit those niggling questions and get answers from experienced rate administrators and our ‘legal eagles’.
There will also be a highly regarded Peter Davison as guest speaker to motivate and inspire you all.
RPSA Annual General Meeting will be held on 7th February 2019 at Novotel Barossa Valley Resort.

All members are urged to attend the AGM - Non-members are invited to attend but may not vote.
After spending the day focussed on rating issues, relax, unwind and enjoy our three-course dinner.
We are having the famous RPSA fancy dress theme again but this time with a DJ & trivia quiz thrown in. There will be tons of prizes so put your thinking caps on and choose an outfit using the letters RPSA.

Sessions commence at 9 am
User Group meetings – we will break up into our respective groups enabling some networking on software and processing issues.
Seniors Postponement – Some members of the Board will host an interactive session about Seniors postponement and it’s growing acceptance within the retired community.
Election Wrap Up – The State Electoral Commission will provide a wrap up of the recent Elections a with voter statistics and other relevant information.
The conference will officially close at 12 noon and we invite you to join us for a light lunch and share your views on the conference before heading home.
